(Wasilla, Alaska)— Becky Henderson who has recently moved up north from Eugene, Oregon has been named the new Director of Instruction at Settlers Bay Golf Course in Wasilla, Alaska.

A public 18 hole championship golf course on the coast of the Knik Arm, Settler’s Bay is surrounded by majestic views of the Chugach Mountain Range and natural beauty on every hole. Located just a few miles from downtown Wasilla and less than an hour drive from Anchorage, Settler’s is a great course with plenty to offer for all golfing abilities and boasts the best greens in the state of Alaska.

As Director of Instruction, Henderson will be available for private aand group playing lessons. She plans to implement player development programs, and offer evening beginner clinics to those that are interested in getting into the game and haven’t had the opportunity previously. These programs are called Get Golf Ready, and are five week introductory clinics that are paired with the PGA of America and Play Golf America to teach beginners the ins and outs of the game in a laid back environment. Along with these clinics, Henderson plans to provide juniors camps for different age groups throughout the summer.

Previously, Henderson was the 1st Assistant at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon. During her six year tenure at ECC she taught many lessons with players of all abilities from scratch to beginners. In 2014 she was named the Oregon PGA Chapter Assistant Golf Professional of the year and was a finalist for the Section Award. This was in part due to her continuing education within the PGA, and their certification process which makes her among only 10% of PGA professionals with such designation.

Henderson became a PGA member in 2011 after graduating from the University of Idaho in their Professional Golf Course Management Program and Bachelor’s in Business Marketing. This is an accredited PGA program that requires 15 months of internships, 3 levels of extensive testing, and the passing of a playing ability test. Henderson’s internships were completed at Wenatchee Country Club in Wenatchee, Washington, Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Virginia, Desert Canyon Golf Resort in Orondo, Washington, and Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Oregon.

“I am very excited to be a part of the golf industry in Alaska and look forward to the opportunities at Settler’s Bay. Settler’s is a great golf course and I am eager to get more people out playing, whether it is for the first time, bringing them back to the game, or helping current players shoot those lower scores that have always eluded them,” said Henderson. Henderson along with Jeff Woolcott, who is a level 2 United States Golf Teachers Federation Teaching Professional, are available to help those who are interested in taking a lesson or clinic out at Settlers Bay Golf Course.
