Why I’m Running to Serve District 26

Why I’m Running to Serve District 26

Alaska is my home. District 26 is my community. The people here are not just my neighbors, they are the reason I have dedicated my life to service.

As a fourth-generation Alaskan, my roots run deep here. I have lived, worked, and served in this community for decades. I have stood alongside families in their hardest moments, worked to protect the vulnerable, and committed my life to public safety and service. That calling has never left me.

I spent over 20 years in law enforcement, including serving as a Chief of Police. While serving with Palmer PD, working in investigations assigned to the Alaska State Troopers statewide task force and DEA. Where I worked on drug, money laundering and terrorism investigations. We partnered with federal, state, and local agencies to keep our communities safe. I’ve seen firsthand the challenges we face—from rising crime to the pressures on our families and small businesses—and I understand that the decisions made in Juneau have real consequences for the people here at home.

In 2007, while serving with the Palmer Police Department, I founded the Santa Cop & Heroes Program to bring connection and care to seniors who might otherwise spend the holidays alone. That program continues today because serving others isn’t something I turn on and off—it’s who I am.

My journey hasn’t been without hardship. After breaking my back in the line of duty, I was medically retired from the Palmer PD. But I didn’t stop serving. I built a small business— Point Blank Firearms & Self Defense Training—where I’ve spent over a decade helping Alaskans protect themselves and their families safely and responsibly. That work has kept me grounded in the real-life concerns of the people in our district.

I am also a woman of faith. My relationship with God, my commitment to family, and my love for this community guide how I lead and how I serve. I believe in accountability, integrity, and doing what is right—even when it’s not easy.

I am running for State House not out of ambition, but out of a clear calling to serve.
District 26 deserves strong, principled leadership—leadership that will stand firm in defense of our constitutional rights, protect our Statutory Permanent Fund Dividend, develop a sustainable budget, support small businesses, and ensure our communities are safe. I believe in limited and responsible government, strong families, and a thriving private-sector economy that gives people the opportunity to succeed.

I am not a career politician. I am a public servant. I will bring real-world experience, common-sense solutions, and a deep commitment to the people of this district to Juneau. I am ready to lead on day one, and I will not waver in protecting our values, our freedoms, and our future.

Most importantly, I want to hear from you.

As part of my campaign, I am hosting meet-and-greet events at local businesses throughout District 26. These gatherings are an opportunity to connect, listen, and support the small businesses that are the backbone of our community.

I invite you to come out, share your thoughts, and be part of the conversation about the future of our district.

If you believe in strong leadership, safe communities, and protecting the values that make Alaska what it is, I ask you to stand with me.

Together, we can protect our freedoms, strengthen our communities, and secure the future of District 26.

It would be an honor to serve you. DonnaAthnony.com for more info.
