A Lens Into Humanness

A Lens Into Humanness

I have a lot of humanitarian friends. Some are more compassionate than others. Some speak from lived experience, their voice carrying a message deeply understood. Others respond from emotional reaction, and this voice can be a little harder for me to land with.

I want to be patient, yet I still step back at times, protecting my energy. There are moments where the communication feels immature, the static energy kicking and screaming, a marauder of attachment dressed in garments of archetypes not yet earned. Even then, I want to remain patient and continue listening with a sense of hope.

And then I am reminded: to be human is to learn through trial and error. We experiment with choices, some lovely, others disturbing. We are all only human. It is our nature to explore and to influence one another, hopefully for the better.

We are here to learn and to gain wisdom, and sometimes that wisdom is hard-earned. We can learn from each other’s mistakes without dehumanizing one another. Within the wheel of life, our choices impact both ourselves and others. When we are not mindful of our free will, harmony is lost.

Still, underneath it all, there is a call for love, and to be loved. And maybe that is what we are all trying to find our way back to, in our own imperfect, human ways.
