Some Motorcyclists Are Responsible Citizens

Some Motorcyclists Are Responsible Citizens

After hearing about the death of a Big Lake resident on the bike path – struck by a motorcyclist illegally using the path – I hope that our law enforcement people begin to pay more attention to the rights of citizens legally using those paths.  We know Nadara Williams because she volunteered for local recycling after attending a Big Lake Community Council meeting.

It’s so easy to assume all motorcyclists are uncaring and callous people who ignore the rights of others. However, there is at least one responsible rider out there!  I was driving home towards Crooked Lake the other day when I passed a motorcyclist headed in the other direction.  He motioned for me to slow down and pointed to some obstruction in my lane up ahead.  I assumed a Moose was near the road and did slow down. Actually, it was a truck parked in the road facing in my oncoming direction. I definitely could have been in a dangerous situation.

So, thank you to the considerate motorcyclist who helped avoid a potential accident on West Susitna Parkway. You are appreciated. Wish there were more of you!
