FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers Partners with Mat-Su Sertoma to Bring Free Hearing & Balance Screenings to the Valley

Alaskans know that staying steady on our feet — especially through winter ice, slick trails, and uneven ground — is key to living life to the fullest. Whether you’re hiking, hunting, or just navigating your driveway in January, your balance and hearing play a huge role in keeping you safe and connected. That’s why FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers of Wasilla and Eagle River has teamed up with Mat-Su Sertoma to bring the community Free Hearing and Balance Screenings right here in the Valley.
A Partnership for Better Balance and Hearing
This partnership combines the strengths of two dedicated local organizations:
• Mat-Su Sertoma, a nonprofit committed to improving hearing health and communication access in our community, provides the free hearing screenings. Their volunteers and specialists make it possible for residents to receive high-quality hearing checks at absolutely no cost.
• FYZICAL Therapy & Balance Centers orders the balance portion of the screening, led by licensed physical therapists who specialize in dizziness, vertigo, and fall prevention.
Together, we’re making it easier for Alaskans to catch both hearing and balance issues early — before they turn into bigger problems that can limit independence or quality of life.
Why These Screenings Matter
Hearing and balance are deeply connected. When one is affected, the other often follows. Trouble hearing can make it harder to stay aware of your surroundings, while balance problems can increase your risk of falls — a major concern in our icy Alaskan winters.
By getting both screenings done at once, community members can better understand their overall vestibular health and take proactive steps toward staying safe, mobile, and engaged.
What to Expect
During your visit, Mat-Su Sertoma will perform a free hearing screening — a quick, painless check to help identify any hearing loss or changes. Then, FYZICAL’s expert team will complete a brief balance assessment to evaluate how your body responds to movement, position, and coordination.
You’ll leave with immediate results and personalized recommendations. If something needs a closer look, we’ll help connect you to the right professional for follow-up care — whether that’s a hearing specialist or a physical therapist trained in balance and vestibular therapy.
Committed to Alaska’s Health and Safety
At FYZICAL, we’re proud to support the Mat-Su community and to partner with local organizations like Mat-Su Sertoma who share our commitment to preventative health and wellness. These free screenings are one small way we can help our neighbors stay steady, safe, and ready for whatever Alaska throws their way — from icy sidewalks to mountain trails.
If you’ve noticed changes in your hearing, dizziness, or a little extra unsteadiness, don’t wait. Schedule your Free Hearing and Balance Screening today and take the first step toward staying balanced, confident, and Alaska-strong.
