Happy Holidays from Talkeetna, Alaska!!!!! Batchlor weekend was the first weekend of December each year and was a great success. The Chamber of Commerce of Talkeetna did a terrific job of organizing and making the event a great as always. It was very cold and windy, but everyone had a great time. Hot Chocolate was in demand and sold out of the annual Talkeetna Hot Chocolate Cups. The Aurora has been amazing with lots of red, green, purple, yellow and white colors even in the early evenings!!!! Photographers will have beautiful new prints of the Aurora for sale coming this spring!!!
We will have a new Aurora Leather shop opening in the Frontier Trading Post building in April 2026, the couple is moving to Talkeetna this Jan. from Georgia!! This will be a great addition to our village for the many visitors that are already booked to visit our interesting town and area. The motels, B&B's, and camp sites are already filling up it would be a good idea to make your reservations early. We are expecting a record number of visitors for our 2026 season!!! We have new cruise ships, new tours like zip lines, jet boats, river tours, land tours, flight tours, fishing tours, train tours, caribou tours, the list goes on and on.
The Historical Society has a tour, The Hanger has events and shows, the famous Burger Barn has new local owners this season offering their World-Famous burgers and will be open early for coffee and breakfast, we welcome them and look forward to enjoying their new adventure.
Talkeetna is a great place to plan a week of adventures and good food choices, there are bike rentals available, RV camping sites, motels, B&B's, or rooms available to rent as well as a local taxi. The first week of March is the American Lung ski race on the Talkeetna Spur Road that is held yearly. Lots to do and see or just go shopping in the local craft stores, we have many handmade gifts available. Most stores offer shipping as well. Be sure and try our famous Fireweed jelly, taffy, honey, jellybeans and candy bars, as well as our smoked salmon and seasonings at Frontier Gifts opening in April 9 am to 9 pm. Ask about the 30% Denali T shirts and pens, caribou and many other pelts and fur hats, headbands, gloves, and scarves. Have a Great Alaskan Vacation!
