Alaska Raceway Park Ready for 2023

Contributed by Michelle Lackey Maynor

Alaska Raceway Park has recently undergone some major improvements during the 2022 racing season, thanks to the hard work of Club 1320, their crowdsource fundraising platform. Through Club 1320’s efforts, 33% of the project was funded, allowing for the installation of concrete walls, a new Portatree timing system, and new, larger LED scoreboards. Despite a short construction season, the walls were installed on time with the help of JD Steel, Northwest Barriers, AMAQ Corp, Soper’s Concrete, and countless hours of volunteer labor.

The installation of the concrete walls is part of the NHRA safety upgrades, which will help protect racers and spectators. With the help of Club 1320’s fundraising, these upgrades were made possible and will help ensure a fun and safe racing season for everyone.

Club 1320 members will be recognized on the tribute wall this spring. Future projects are still being planned. Learn more about those projects and membership at raceak.com/club1320

Stay tuned for more racing and exciting events planned for the 2023 race season, which kicks off Mother’s Day weekend with NASCAR on Saturday, May 13th and NHRA drag racing on Sunday, May 14th.
