Arts in the Garden Festival in Palmer
Contributed by Meggie Aube-Trammell
The Palme Ars Council (PAC) and Palmer Museum of History and Art (PMHA) are proud to present the Arts in the Garden festival on July 19th from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. For many years, Mat-Su residents and visitors alike enjoyed the yearly Midsummer Garden and Art Fair. Last year the event was cancelled, and the PMHA created a smaller event, Art in the Garden, to help support the vendors who usually participated in the yearly summer festival. This summer, the PAC will be combining forces with the museum to create a larger event to more closely resemble the past festivals.
On the museum grounds you will be able to find artisan vendors, an art station for kids, and several food vendor options. The PAC will be expanding on their event with more vendors in the Quad, hands-on art stations for kids and adults offered by other arts organizations, art workshops led by local artists, and a community canvas led by Barbara Hunt. The Alehouse has graciously donated the use of their stage. Scheduled so far are Mat-Valley Dance, The Robotz, The Highland Dancers, and the John Budnik Band. If you have a group that may wish to perform, please contact PAC to schedule.
Participating organizations in the festival include Valley Arts Alliance, Valley Fine Arts Association, Bright Lights Book Project, Valley Community for Recycling Solutions, and Friends of the Palmer Library. If you are part of an organization that would like to participate, we would love to have you join in! Additionally, we are currently looking for artist vendors who may wish to have a booth on the Quad. Please contact the PAC if you are interested in being a vendor for this festival. We will also need volunteers for the day of the festival. If you would like to help make this event run smoothly, we surely could use some extra hands!
