United is the Way To…Get Moving and Give Back

United Way of Mat-Su is very excited to announce that this season’s Get Moving Mat-Su fun runs will support our mission to advance quality Education, good Health and Wellness, Financial Stability and amazing Youth Opportunities for all Mat-Su residents! Get Moving Mat-Su is on a mission to encourage Mat-Su residents to be and stay active while creating community, business and social connections. We think this is a perfect match!
Join UWMS, the Get Moving Mat-Su crew, and lots of friends, neighbors and community members every Wednesday at Bearpaw River Brewing Company in Wasilla (Railroad Avenue location). You can choose from a 1 mile, 5k, or 5-mile jog or walk, starting and ending at the Brewing Company. A rotating list of sponsors will be in attendance and there will be giveaways. Stick around afterwards, order pizza and beverages and hang out with friends.
Our first run of the summer will be Weds., May 14! Be ready to walk, jog, scooter or shuffle at 6pm. The final run of the 2025 season will be Weds., August 13.
You can pre-register for each run at: runsignup.com/Race/AK/Wasilla/GETMOVINGMATSUFUNRUNS
The fun doesn’t end with the last run of the season! Be sure you continue to follow both Get Moving Mat-Su and United Way of Mat-Su on Facebook and Instagram. Programs, activities and events from both occur year-round, and more information can be found on social media.
See YOU at the Get Moving Mat-Su fun runs this summer! What a great way to Live United.
2025 Week of Caring Volunteers Needed
Our annual Week of Caring volunteer extravaganza is just around the corner. We have several local projects, submitted by our nonprofit partners, that could use additional helping hands.
What is Week of Caring?
Week of Caring represents hundreds of hours of volunteer labor, contributed to Mat-Su nonprofits in May. WOC volunteers help to complete work that might otherwise go unfinished. You might be helping to plant a garden, paint a building, clean up a local park or playground, or learn the ins and outs of running a local thrift store.
When: May 19-23, 2025
How? Head to our website at unitedwaymatsu.org and click on VOLUNTEER to register for the project of your choice! UWMS staff will send out an FAQ for each project as we get closer to each date.
Why? Volunteers are the backbone of community service. We need YOU, because YOU are United Way of Mat-Su.
