Discovering the Unique Ways to Enter a Profession

Discovering the Unique Ways to Enter a Profession

When many people describe the start of a journey, they may say it was the moment they opened a door and started toward their destination. Here at Nine Star, we would say the start of a journey begins earlier than that. The start is when you make the decision to go somewhere new, and it may even begin sooner, with all the experiences that led to that decision.

On June 4, Nine Star’s Center for Workforce Excellence, Mat-Su location, is hosting a Career Info Day that is a free event open to the public. On this day we are inviting accomplished professionals from five different career tracks to share their unique stories.

Find out what led them to make the decision to enter their professions, and the many interesting and unpredictable ways they’ve progressed as they’ve grown, and continue to grow, their expertise.

Like any journey, there are multiple paths to get to your destination, and the path is rarely just as you imagined it. Join us for as many sessions as you’re curious about, and maybe this event can be one step on your own journey.

Nine Star’s Mat-Su location is a training hub dedicated to supporting individuals in the Mat-Su Borough in enjoying career success. We offer a variety of services, including GED preparation, WorkKeys test preparation, career exploration, training in the soft skills needed for all careers, and upskilling through many certificates tied to career pathways.

The event is June 4 at Nine Star’s offices, 899 W. Commercial Dr., Wasilla, AK 99645. Speaker schedule: 12:00 to 12:50, Animal Services, Anthony Vrolyk; 1:00 to 1:50, Public Service, Mayor Edna DeVries; 2:00 to 2:50, Physical Therapy, Hal Egbert; 3:00 to 3:50, Nursing, Mary Ann Egbert; 4:00 to 4:50, Air National Guard, Timothy Rowe; 5:00 to 5:50, IT Network and Telecommunications, Josh Miller.
