Lessons Learned

Contributed by Donald J. Cutler

Our days begin like new fell snow,
Clean fresh and white.
We have no thoughts of right or wrong,
The things we soon will fight.

Time seems to pass quite fast at first.
We’re learning every day,
The skills we use just to survive
When hardship comes our way.

By noon the test is fully set
The lessons will be learned.
This is when life starts to write
The pages to be turned.

Like mountains vast life we ascend,
We cross its peaks and valleys.
At times it seems a daunting task
To make this awesome journey.

At dusk it’s close to journey’s end
The trials have been discerned.
But like the child I used to be,
I still have much to learn.
