Are You Looking To Take A Journey?

Did that get your attention? Well, let me give you the great news…We at Journey Church, located at the corner of Seldon and Bogard, are constantly on a journey.

Our next big adventure is… Operation FINALLY HOME. What is it? It’s a national program that provides homes and home modification to America’s military heroes and the widows of the fallen who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedom and values.

We will be hosting a community event to kick it off. I am a former “Air Force brat” for 18 years, the widow of an active duty husband who died in combat and a remarried wife to another service man. I’ve been there, done that and bought the t-shirt. Now is the time more than ever to honor our heroes and give back to help others.

Our informational meeting will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00am. Journey Church is located behind Little Miller’s at the corner of Bogard and Seldon. We are handicap-accessible and military-friendly. If you would like more information, call Becky at 704-785-6200.

In other news, our current adventure includes an expansion to our church thrift store, Saving Grace. We will now have twice the space we had, plus we will be able to feature some furniture and larger items. We are in the process of refinishing furniture to sell and raise money for missions. We will be arranging another “Thrifter’s Road Trip” like we did last fall.

This involved ten small thrift shops you might not know about. It was a great way for us to network in our community to help “the little guys” small business. Journey Church had prizes for the ones who visited all 10 stores and had their postcard signed off by the store owners. It was loads of fun according to our thrifters and eagerly anticipated for our coming events in March.  All you have to do is go to your favorite shop, get a postcard with addresses and locations and you’re off on your own thrifting adventure! We gave thrifters two weekends to complete this event.

Our other big news is we now have Bible classes for children, pre-school through high school, and host a monthly meeting for seniors, ages 50 and up, the first Thursday of every month. We had our first couple get married and are looking for new singles to join our group.

Remember these dates:
•    Thursday, March 1st at 6:30pm: Senior Singles 50 and Up
•    Saturday, March 3rd at 11am: Operation FINALLY HOME Meeting
•    Grief Share Support groups have moved to Tuesdays at 6pm-8pm.
•    Thrifter’s Road Trip tentatively scheduled for mid-March.
