The racing community in Alaska has always looked out for each other, ensuring racers got to race, and helping a fellow racer in time of need. One racer was Mark Torkelson who made a name for himself racing snow machines in Alaska and winning the Iron Dog Race. Mark passed away in October of 2017, and while he is gone, his legacy of helping racers race continues.
The TORK Foundation was established to keep racers racing. The high expenses of the sport of auto racing sometimes prevent new racers and veterans from competing week after week. One way the foundation is helping current racers is by paying the entrance fee for racers to race. Any team is eligible if they have a TORK Foundation sticker, applies it on their racing machine and shares it on Facebook.
The foundation has paid the entrance fees for racers at Alaska Raceway Park, across Alaska and even a motorcycle racer in the Lower 48. To get involved, please visit their Facebook page, Tork @torkslegend1989, and you may get a TORK sticker and have the spirit of Mark continue through racing in Alaska and wherever you may race.
