Donating Can Be Fun and Rewarding

Did you know that Valley Charities, Inc. (VCI) has been building a grant giving fund since 2010? If you did know, do you know what kind of grants would be awarded? I'd like to tell you about the grant-making Endowment fund that can last forever to help residents in the Mat-Su. And, you can have fun contributing to the funds this coming October.

The Valley Charities Endowment fund was created over 15 years ago to award mini wellness grants to individuals and families facing difficult financial times for instance, most of us hate dealing with car repairs.

Even when we can afford them it's a hassle dealing with the car repair shops let alone finding a reputable mechanic that you trust! Can you imagine dealing with that situation but not being able to afford payment? It's a catch 22 situation. You need your car for work. You work so you can pay the rent or purchase food.

But if you pay for the car repair you may not be able to pay the rent or purchase food. The VCI Endowment is being created to minimize that stress and pay a helpful portion of the bill. The Endowment may also help with several expenses not tied to other grants or church assistance. (i.e. co-pay for medicine or doctor's visits).

In 2010 we started with $5,000.00 and have grow the Endowment to just over $52,000.00 through contributions from Pick. Click.Give, and several large donations. Our current goal is to reach $100K. This will enable us to award more mini grants annually and not be too limited to amounts that we fund. NOW THE FUN PART!

In October we're going to be featuring our first fundraiser at Valley Charities, inc. It's called Leaves of Change Online Auction. You have the fun of bidding like you would during a silent auction in person event. But you can do our auction online using your phone or computer at your convenience. If you get out-bid, you'll be notified and can counter with a higher bid. Join the Fun! Knowing that your contribution will serve a great community cause.

You can join the fun soon. Pre-Registering is open now! The auction site for preview opens on October 7th and the bidding on items begins on October 10th for ten days ending on October 20th.

Again, the money raised will be going directly into the VCI Endowment. It's a fund that will continue to grow over time. You'd be surprised how much a little can go a long way to helping our Valley neighbors. Your participation sustains financial assistance for years into the future. It's very rewarding seeing how your money can help others financially disadvantaged for more than one year at a time.

Go to www.valleycharities.org or our turn-A-leaf Facebook page for registration information to join the fun. Thank you for supporting VCI as we, "Connect those who need help with the help they need".
