Interactive 'Trunk or Treat Trek'

Interactive 'Trunk or Treat Trek' to Connect Wasilla with Games, Shuttles, and a Scavenger Hunt This Halloween

Contributed by Jovan Archulketa

This Halloween, a new community-wide event is raising the bar for family fun. The first-ever "Trunk or Treat Trek" is scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offering a safe, interactive, and mobile trick-or-treating adventure across Wasilla.

The event is built around a free, continuous shuttle service connecting two main hubs: AMVETS Post 11 and Youth 360/Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. To make the journey part of the fun, a facilitator on each bus will host rounds of "Bingo on the Bus" for prizes. Families can also use a live GPS tracker to see the buses' locations in real-time, helping them plan their stops with ease.

In addition to the main hubs, tentative "Trek Stops" include Yoga OM, Home Depot Parking Lot, Wasilla City Hall, and the Wasilla Public Library.

Beyond candy collecting, participants are invited to form teams for the "Carpool Party Puzzle Scavenger Hunt." This modern challenge will use an online platform, where groups will complete a digital puzzle by taking group pictures at designated locations and uploading them.

To bring this large-scale community event to life, organizers are calling for volunteers and sponsors. An event of this scale is only possible with community support. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals and businesses to help us create a memorable and safe Halloween for everyone.

Community members can get involved in several ways:

  • Sponsors: Local businesses are invited to sponsor the event to help cover costs for buses, supplies, and activities.

  • Volunteers: Help is needed for event setup, traffic control at busy stops, and hosting games or answering questions at each site.

  • Trunk or Treat Cars: Individuals, families, or businesses are encouraged to sign up to host a decorated vehicle trunk at one of the designated locations.

A comprehensive survey has been created to gather community feedback and organize participation. Residents can use the survey to suggest shuttle stops, express interest in volunteering, sign up to host a trunk, provide input on types of events they would like to see at main hub sites, or register as a potential sponsor.
