Rachel Olson Honored with Governor’s Commendation for Transforming Lives of Alaska’s Youth and Families

Rachel Olson, founder and leader of REACH 907, has been awarded a formal commendation by Governor Mike Dunleavy in recognition of her extraordinary service to Alaska’s youth and families. The commendation was presented on February 13, 2026, during the Hearts in Motion Gala held at Wasilla Bible Church.
For more than 12 years, Olson has demonstrated an exceptional commitment to strengthening communities across Alaska through trauma-informed, relationship-based care. Since founding REACH 907 in 2014, she has led the organization in providing life-changing mental health services to at-risk youth and families, particularly within the Mat-Su Valley.
Under Olson’s leadership, REACH 907 has grown into a vital community resource, employing 28 staff members and coordinating more than 100 volunteers annually to serve some of Alaska’s most vulnerable populations. Through programs such as summer camps, year-round mentoring, and family support services, REACH 907 equips young people with the tools they need to thrive, regardless of the challenges they face.
Beyond her nonprofit leadership, Olson has served as a therapeutic foster parent to more than 42 children, offering stability, care, and hope to youth in need. As a certified practitioner of Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), she also trains caregivers and professionals across the state, helping expand access to trauma-informed care and strengthening the broader support system for children and families.
The Governor’s commendation highlights Olson’s enduring contributions and acknowledges the far-reaching impact of her leadership in building healthier, more resilient communities.
