In 2001, Dr. Maria Krinock saw two urgent crises gripping Alaska’s remote communities: rising food costs and a growing wave of suicide. Determined to respond, she founded Lifeline Outreach, a faith-based initiative that blends humanitarian aid with suicide prevention. What began as one woman’s vision has grown into a lifeline for communities across the state.

Founded in 1995 as a small outpatient guidance clinic, DFS has grown to be one of the state’s largest non-residential providers of youth behavioral health services — including therapeutic foster care, case management, clinical therapy, early childhood services, and school-based supports.
